UNESCO's General History of Africa

One of UNESCO's most important publishing projects was the General History of Africa. This is but one of several major regional history series produced by UNESCO. Each has been based on the work of a network of international scholars selected by UNESCO's secretatiat fo to provide both depth and balance in the coverage of an extensive history. Published in eight volumes, from 1981 through 1999, the General History of Africa is available in two editions, either complete in Arabic, English and French, or abridged.
