Open Educational Resources | Development Gateway

Open Educational Resources | Development Gateway

The Development Gateway provides this topic page thanks to a grant from the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation. The term "Open Educational Resources" was first adopted at UNESCO's 2002 Forum on the Impact of Open Courseware for Higher Education in Developing Countries. Open Educational Resources (OERs) are digitized materials offered freely and openly for educators, students and self-learners to use and re-use for teaching, learning and research. The Development Gateway's goal with this service is to support efforts to equalize access to education, and to improve life chances for people in developing countries. This site is to serve as a freely accessible venue for the aggregation and dissemination of OERs worldwide.
